The plot of the film is based on the events of one summer day from Chekhov’s family life, taking place in their country house in the mid 80-s of 19th century. 26-year-old Anton selflessly supports his large and unfortunate family: a bankrupt father, a sick mother, a sister, elder and younger brothers.
